Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MenuMacros (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the MenuMacros mobile app (the “App”). We built MenuMacros to help you find restaurant dishes that fit your goals - we collect only what we need to do that well.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a basic identifier and, where you allow it, your name and email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, you can choose to hide your email.
- Your profile & goals. Height, weight, sex, age, activity level, your goal (lose, maintain, or gain), and health preferences. We use these to personalise dish rankings.
- Food preferences. The cuisines and foods you say you like or dislike, which steer your recommendations.
- Food diary entries. Meals you choose to log, so you can review what you’ve eaten.
Information we collect automatically
- Location. With your permission, we use your device’s location to find and sort nearby restaurants by distance. Location is used to serve results to you and is not used to track you across other apps or services.
- Photos. If you choose to add a meal photo, we access only the image you select, or the camera when you point it at a meal, to estimate its calories and macros. We do not browse your photo library.
- Usage & device data. Basic, aggregated information about how the App is used and performs, to fix bugs and improve features.
How we use your information
- To rank restaurant menu items by how well they fit your goals.
- To find and order restaurants near your current location.
- To personalise suggestions using your tastes and preferences.
- To maintain your account, food diary, and subscription.
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the App.
Third-party services
MenuMacros relies on a small number of trusted providers. Each handles data under its own privacy policy:
- Google Places API - to discover nearby restaurants and menu information. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple & Google Sign-In - to authenticate your account.
- RevenueCat - to manage subscriptions and purchases. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never receive your full payment card details.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers above so they can perform services for us, or where required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, after which we delete or anonymise your personal information except where we must retain it to meet legal obligations.
Your rights & choices
- Permissions. You control location, camera, and photo access from your device settings, and can withdraw them at any time.
- Access & deletion. You may request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it by contacting us below.
- Depending on where you live (for example, under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or restrict the processing of your data.
Children
MenuMacros is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
